Jamaica...

Well I wanted to post about our trip to Montego Bay after we got home, but we were home just a day and then Papa passed away. I am just now getting back into the grove of things. I had 8 loads of laundry to do these past couple days and for that I was NOT happy! I ended up going back to stay with Meme for 4 days after we got home from the funeral so my house was a wreck and Nate was running out of clothes. For an update on that, Meme is doing okay, she is just still in shock I think. We all sort of just think Pa will be back, that he's just out of town or something. Our hearts are just going to hurt for a really long time. However, God is good and I will not question why...He knows what He's doing!

So as for the trip...We went with the Kendrick's (Matthew & Tara) and we had A BLAST! Oh my gosh everytime we get around Matthew and Tara all we do is just laugh! They are such a blast to be around! So we meet them in Houston the day we leave and we all find out we are sitting first class? Actually, I was sitting on the front row of first class. Like the best row of the plane! Nathan of course was trying to get me to switch seats with him. For some reason when we fly Continental Nate and I never get to sit by each other. Well of course I wasn't giving this seat up! But when everyone got on the plane I look back and Nate, Matthew, and Tara are ALL sitting on the last row of first class and I am all by myself. So this lady switched seats with me and we were all wondering what was going to go wrong since we somehow got so lucky to sit in first class. My first time EVER and there is no other way to fly after that! Had to tell that story! And somehow we got to sit first class going home too! HA! Yesss!

We arrive in Jamaica and wait in a line like an hour long and I thought for sure I was being infected with swine flu. I was literally holding my shirt over my nose! It was so scary! and HOT! and packed! It still grosses me out to think about it! However, I didn't get the swine flu! None of us did! :-) I think perhaps people got a little too excited! But still...

We stayed at Sandal's Resort and I am not going to lie, I didn't think it was that great. The service was really crappy. When you're in Mexico they fall over each other to get you stuff, but here...Not so much! I felt so sorry for the people of Jamaica, this place is so poor and I just felt so sad! The people at the resort only make $2,000 a year. A YEAR! God bless them! Anyway we made great friends with the workers there. Or actually Matthew and Nate did. They knew them by name! They would all get really excited when we walked up and they would say "HEYYYY NATE DOGG" "HEYYYY MATT" in their cute little accents! It was hilarious!

We stayed four days and it was just wonderful. The weather was HOT and HUMID but I soaked it all in! I was so depressed to leave, it was so sad!

A few of the likes:
-Jamaican accents..Most likely you will be saying "mon" even after you get home.
-The ocean was perfect! We would just sit in it and we would sit there ALL day! It wasn't even cold and the waves were...well they don't have waves there so don't expect to go surfing.
-There are no worries in Jamaica..."No worries mon"
-Jerk chicken=really really really GOOD
-Jamaican's are nice...Well atleast the ones on the resort. However, would NOT go off the resort, Jamaica is dangerous and the crime is high!
-WONDERFUL places to eat on location! Yummo!
-Good tanning weather!
-Photographers come and take your picture which is cool because you have a great pictures of the whole group. Then later you can go pick out which pictures you want and they put them on a cd.
-Flight is only 3 hours to a really fun place.


A few of the dislikes:
-Sand fleas...Yes I said fleas and yes I got them! They come from the sand and they bite you and they are clear! You can't see them, but you can sure feel them. Talk about itching! If you ever get them, just treat them like chiggers.
-Appleton. Don't drink this...It's awful!
-The service=not so great
-The hamburgers...This meat is grey...I don't know but it's not really hamburger meat! UGH! Don't eat it!
-It stinks...Every now and then I would catch a wiff of something and it was gross! It was just in the air.
-They beg you for tips. I have never been begged for a tip, BUT they are excited about even a dollar!
-Be prepared to wait...It seemed like all we did was wait for a lot of things.
-Be careful who you give your luggage to at the airport...They will run with it!
-People openly smoke weed here. It was just really weird for me to be seeing people doing this right beside us on the beach. The "Rostepharians" will come along the ocean with fanny packs under their shirts and try and get you to buy weed. And they will ask you every single time you see them! It was just crazy! But nobody bothered anybody, they just did it. Oh well.

All in all this was a fun fun trip! However, don't think we will be going back. Had Matthew and Tara not been with us, it would not have been the same. But if I had to go back, you wouldn't have to twist my arm to go! :-) I really did love it!
